I Flew

I watched you grow a thousand times,

and saw things for the first time

through your eyes.

I watched you roll, then crawl, and walk

now your beginning to talk

I can’t wait to hear your dreams.

I’ve watched you dream a thousand times,

I saw your wings spread open wide.

You flew, I knew you would, but

I had to wait until you could.

Now I watch you pass me by,

and remember when I could fly.

I could fly and knew I should, but

I watched until I understood.

Don’t watch too long to understand,

you learn by trying in this land.

If you try and try again,

you will be flying in the end.
