The Ocean

Seeing the vastness and mystery,

Feeling the sand between your toes,

Tasting the salt of the sea,

Smelling the ocean air, and

Hearing the crash of the waves in the surf

There’s something about the ocean . . .

As a child, and modest swimmer

I looked at the water and beyond

Afraid of the crashing waves

And was encouraged to move on

The first steps of my feet getting wet

Lead to an enduring experience

I call discovery . . .

Two thirds of the earth is underwater

To explore and discover, we must go under

The water that is, and so I did

Too many colors, fish, and debris

Under the water you see

A miraculous place you discover

And realize the wonder

Created by God . . .

For the whole world to see . . .

Some shield their eyes and deny

And forever in eternity they cry

Why . . . too afraid to discover?

Its right there, a first step to recover

The water is fine, just come in

Is the voice that’s calling within?

Just answer the knock at the door

And discover like never before

All that is held in store

For those who open the door

The ocean is there at our feet

To see, taste, feel, smell, and hear

Don’t go through life without Seeing

Feeling, Tasting, Smelling and Hearing
